SommPair (“we,” “our,” or “us”) values your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, store, share, and protect your information when you use the SommPair mobile application and related services.

By using SommPair, you agree to the collection, use, and sharing of information as described in this Privacy Policy.

1. Information We Collect

Account Information

To use SommPair, you sign in using Apple Sign In or Google Sign In. We do not support usernames or passwords created directly with SommPair.

We receive limited account information from these providers, which may include your name, email address, and a unique account identifier. We do not receive or store your Apple or Google account password.

Photos, Text, and Wine Information You Provide

When you use SommPair, you may provide information such as:

  • photos or images of wine bottles, labels, or related content,
  • text you submit in the app,
  • wine-related details you submit, save, or request, and
  • collection and bottle information associated with your account.

This information is used to operate the app’s core features, including bottle identification, label analysis, wine questions, recommendations, collection features, and related AI-powered experiences.

App Usage Information

We may collect limited usage and technical information to improve app performance, reliability, and security. This may include app interactions, crash reports, device type, operating system version, and diagnostic information.

2. How We Collect Information

We collect information in the following ways:

  • directly from you when you sign in, upload photos, submit text, add bottles, or use app features,
  • automatically through your use of the app, such as diagnostic and usage information, and
  • from third-party sign-in providers such as Apple and Google when you authenticate your account.

3. How We Use Your Information

We use your information to:

  • provide, operate, and maintain SommPair,
  • identify wine bottles and analyze wine labels,
  • answer wine questions and generate AI-powered responses,
  • save your bottles, collection data, and preferences,
  • support recommendations and related app features,
  • improve app functionality, reliability, and user experience, and
  • respond to support, privacy, and account-related requests.

We do not sell your personal information.

4. AI Processing and Third-Party AI Services

SommPair relies on artificial intelligence as a core part of the app experience.

When you use AI-powered features, SommPair may send the text, photos or images, and wine-related details you choose to submit to OpenAI, our third-party AI service provider, so the app can:

  • analyze wine labels,
  • identify bottles,
  • answer wine questions,
  • generate recommendations or related insights, and
  • power other AI-based app features.

SommPair only sends this information to OpenAI in connection with providing these app features. AI-generated responses are informational only and may occasionally contain errors.

We do not use your personal information to build advertising profiles, and we do not sell your personal information to data brokers or advertisers.

5. Sharing of Information

We may share your information with trusted third-party service providers that help us operate the app and provide its features, including:

  • Apple Sign In and Google Sign In for authentication,
  • Google Firebase, Firestore, and Google Cloud for storage, infrastructure, and related app operations, and
  • OpenAI for AI-powered analysis and responses.

These service providers process information on our behalf or in connection with services you request through the app. We require service providers to provide appropriate protections for personal information.

6. Data Storage and Security

Account data, uploaded content, and related app data may be stored using Firebase, Firestore, and other Google Cloud infrastructure. We use reasonable administrative, technical, and organizational safeguards designed to protect your information.

No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.

7. Data Retention

We retain your information for as long as your account is active or as needed to provide the app and its features, comply with legal obligations, resolve disputes, and enforce agreements.

Uploaded photos, saved bottles, and related account data may remain associated with your account until you delete them or request account deletion, subject to any retention required for legitimate business or legal purposes.

8. Your Rights and Choices

You may have the right to:

  • access your personal information,
  • request correction of inaccurate information,
  • request deletion of your information, and
  • request deletion of your account.

9. Children’s Privacy

SommPair is not intended for children under the age of 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13.
